SNA Software Adds CSDR FlexFile Import

SNA Software Adds CSDR FlexFile Import

SNA adds FlexFile import into Proteus Envision environment.

SNA Software® is pleased to announce that EnvisionData Transformer now imports Cost and Software Data Reporting FlexFile submissions directly into the Proteus Envision database. The new FlexFile Importer, part of EnvisionData version 1.4, gives cost estimators, analysts and program teams a fast, repeatable way to bring contractor financial cost and hour data into the same environment as their earned value, schedule and risk data.

The FlexFile (DI-FNCL-82162) is the Department of Defense standard for reporting detailed actual cost and hour data. A single submission can hold hundreds of thousands of records.

Loading that data by hand, or with custom database scripts, is slow and error prone. The FlexFile Importer reads a submission exactly as it is delivered, as a zip file or an extracted folder, checks every value against the Envision FlexFile database schema, and loads all of its tables in one pass, typically in under a minute.

Highlights of the release include:

  • A guided import wizard, available from the EnvisionData desktop and as a standalone application
  • Import of one or many FlexFile submissions at a time
  • Safe replacement of a previously loaded submission, with confirmation before any data is replaced
  • Import with modifications, such as loading a submission under a different contract number, with a preview of exactly what will be written
  • An all-or-nothing import: a submission that fails validation or is canceled leaves the database unchanged
Data Transformation Made Easy

Once imported, FlexFile data is available to Proteus Envision dashboards and reports alongside IPMDAR, IPMR and schedule data, giving analysts a single, authoritative source for earned value, actual costs, software and related business data, and performance analysis. Coupled with the power of Proteus Envision in a secure open architecture, the significance of this added capability is manifold, which includes:

  • Analysis and reporting can be done on a single submission, allowing for expenditure and forecasts to be aggregated and drilled down through the elements contained in the FlexFile such as WBS, CLINs, Lots, functional categories and across time phasing.
  • The FlexFile Actual Cost, Hours and Forecast at Complete details can be integrated with the Earned Value data for lower-level detail analysis and reporting, as well as cross checks.
  • FlexFile submissions across multiple contracts can be merged together for portfolio analysis.
  • FlexFiles for a single contract across multiple submission dates can be trended and compared to highlight where there are any differences or significant changes.
  • Automation of quality checks and compliance on a FlexFile submission.

"Our customers have asked for a dependable way to bring FlexFile data into Envision," said Matt Pitstick, CTO of SNA Software. "The FlexFile Importer does that in minutes and keeps cost and hour actuals right next to the earned value and schedule data they already analyze."
